So this is an example of some of the roughs I'll do in Maya before painting over. The best way to describe how this mesh is built is 'Messy'. Its goal is to act as a reference point for me to draw over, or better understand the perspective.
The best way to think about the process is basically like building with Lego bricks, except you're making all the peices from scratch. Since im more focused on the overal shape vs how the mesh is built, im really sketching it out in 3D.
Creating a concept in 3D, even rough, can help different members on a team fully understand your idea, even if you're not there to explain it.
