Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time

This is the device in the center of the Great Clock that holds the Time control sphere.

(I decided to upload work from my first project at Insomniac. These are from early to mid 2009)

how do you concept artists think up this cool stuff. the red arrows indicate movement?

Thanks, and you are correct, the red arrows are for the modelers to understand what parts should be separate and how they should move. We think of 'what would be cool' and hope for the best.

You see this In the first cavernous room you go into in the first level, when you are playing as clank. Then at the end os the game (spoiler) you see the sphere again up close.
